Inside the LUMYN
workshop.
Two benches, one floor, one roof — how a console gets from an idea to your wall.
Walk through the LUMYN workshop in Kompally and you’ll pass two benches before you reach the door. On one, a carpenter is fitting a walnut drawer front, mallet in hand. On the other, someone is soldering a circuit board that will end up behind a console glass three rooms away. That’s not a coincidence of layout — it’s the whole idea.
Two benches, one floor
Lumyn Living designs and builds interiors. Lumyn Smart designs and builds the automation. Most companies that offer both keep them as separate divisions, or worse, separate vendors stitched together at handover. We keep them on the same floor, because a console designed without knowing what wall it sits on is already behind — and interiors designed without knowing what they need to power are guessing too.
Why we don’t outsource the console
It would be faster, in the short term, to white-label someone else’s hub and put a LUMYN badge on it. We don’t, for the same reason a kitchen fitted around a stock cabinet never quite feels considered: when you don’t control the core piece, you’re always designing around someone else’s decisions. Building the console ourselves means the wiring, the firmware and the hub all get to be shaped around how Indian homes are actually wired and actually lived in — not adapted from a different market’s assumptions.
“A smart home shouldn’t feel like a gadget bolted onto a beautiful room. It should feel like the room was always going to work this way.”
Made in India, not just assembled
Every LUMYN console, curtain motor and lighting controller is engineered and manufactured in-house, here in Hyderabad — design, PCB assembly, enclosure, testing, all under one roof. That matters for more than a label. It means faster fixes when something needs to change, spares that don’t take six weeks to arrive from overseas, and a support team that can walk over to the bench where your exact hardware was built.
What’s next
The apartment featured throughout this site is a real, live demo home a few minutes from the workshop — every scene, every mode, every curtain glide you’ve seen here runs for real inside it. If you’re in Hyderabad, that’s the best way to understand what these two benches actually add up to. Book a walkthrough and come see it.
