The apartment in the photo above isn’t a mock-up of what a smart home could look like. It’s a normal, already-finished room — the kind most of our customers actually live in when they call us. Nothing about it needed to change for LUMYN to go in.

The wall you already have

Most Indian homes wire lighting circuits in a way that’s more flexible than people assume — a live, neutral and switch wire at most points. LUMYN modules are built to sit behind your existing switch plate and work with that wiring, rather than demanding a fresh run of cable to every fixture. In the large majority of homes we visit, the existing wiring is enough.

What actually changes

  • A site visit — fifteen minutes at each switchboard, checking wiring and load
  • Switch plates come off; smart modules go in behind them, on your existing wires
  • A wall console or keypad replaces (or sits beside) a bank of switches, where you want one
  • The Lumyn hub is installed — the one piece of new hardware in the home
  • Everything pairs to the app; scenes and schedules get set up on the spot

The hub does the heavy lifting

Every device in the home answers to a Lumyn hub inside the house — not to a server somewhere else. That’s what makes a light retrofit possible in the first place: the intelligence lives locally, so a switch plate only needs to talk to a box in your own hallway, not the internet. The mobile and web apps then sync to that hub through the cloud, which is also why a tap from the airport still lands exactly like a tap on the wall.

A one-day install, not a one-month renovation

For a typical 2–3 BHK, installation runs a single day — sometimes less. There’s no dust sheet stage, no contractor crew, no living out of a hotel while it happens. You leave for work with normal switches and come home to a console.

What if I move out?

Because nothing is embedded in the wall structure itself, a LUMYN setup can move with you. It’s one of the quieter advantages of retrofit-friendly hardware: the smart home you build is an asset that travels, not a fixture you leave behind with the flat.
